There’s no hiding that Sunday’s matchup with the 5-4 Atlanta Falcons is huge. With the NFC South and NFC North all but locked up, there are four remaining playoff births up for grabs in the NFC.
While divisional leaders Dallas and Arizona have the upper hand, their hard work is not nearly over. The Eagles, Packers, Falcons and Giants are all 5-4, and are right in the playoff hunt.
At 4-5, the 49ers, Panthers and Bears are on life support, but their dreams are not dead yet.
What it all boils down to is that with seven games remaining, there are nine NFC teams fighting for four spots in the playoffs.

Rex Ryan needs to re-focus his troops.
Before I delve into the Jets’ problems, I want to say a few words about the whole Rex Ryan “crying incident.”
First, Damien Woody is a done in my book. What a rat. How does a player violate the sanctity of “what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room?”
Despicable. As a fan, I want to know what happens in the locker room, but I respect a team that keeps its business to itself. It’s a sign of trust and unity.

According to Ben Shipgel of the NY Times, Mets GM Omar Minaya will fly to Puerto Rico to scout free agent 1st baseman Carlos Delgado in winter ball. Delgado has been a productive Met, racking up 104 HR’s and 339 RBI’s, while batting .272 in 338 games for the Metropolitans. Carlos has been one of my favorite Met players over the last four years, but it is time to part ways with the future hall-of-famer.

St. John’s Junior point guard Malik Boothe made two free throws with 6.2 seconds left to give St. John’s a 69-68 victory on the road against St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies (1-1) inbounded and got the ball to Michael Davenport, who missed a long 3-pointer at the buzzer. It was a big victory for the Red Storm who probably would have lost this type of game a year ago.
St. John’s (2-0) was led by D.J. Kennedy once again, who had 18 points. Last year’s leading scorer, Paris Horne, chipped in with 15.
