Making it rain; Rangers squash Jackets with 7-goal outburst

November 24, 2009

Gaborik had two goals and two assists

NEW YORK — Fiery coach John Tortorella had a calm, reassuring tone and message after the New York Rangers fell into an early two-goal hole.

He called timeout and told his club to relax. It was only two goals and there were still nearly 50 minutes remaining for a comeback against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Marian Gaborik got the offense going, the Rangers took the lead before the first period was over and they rolled to a 7-4 victory Monday night.

Three the Hardway

Part 2 of 3– He’s listed at 5 feet 9 inches tall and his mouth is as big as his vertical leap, Nate Robinson is not one to be quiet or take a backseat to anyone. He may be the smallest guy on the court but I bet he has the biggest heart. Nate is a New York  kind of guy, his emotions are spray painted on his sleeve and he’s as passionate as any player to walk through the doors of Madison Square Garden. Read the rest of this entry ?

Mets unveil new home uni for 2010

November 24, 2009

Which new players will be wearing it?

The Mets have officially announced the addition of a new pinstripe home uniform for next season, saying:

“The design combines new and old elements of Mets uniforms.  The Mets created the retro uniform following research and positive responses to the jerseys the 1969 World Champion Mets wore during their 40th anniversary celebration in August… The natural color and pinstripes were staples of the original Mets uniform when the team debuted in 1962.  The Mets will also continue to wear their white uniform at home with the black jerseys as an alternate.”

St. John’s a shell of its former self

November 24, 2009

Ron Artest...those were the days

As St. John’s was barely beating a bottom of the barrel Ivy League team Friday night, Seton Hall was out working a tough Cornell squad on the road, and Syracuse was routing the 4th ranked Tar Heels at the Garden.  St. Johns, pegged to finish 11th in the Big East pre-season, has been disappointing to say the least so far, despite a 3-0 start.  This is a St. John’s program that has the 5th most wins in college basketball history (1673 wins), has the 7th best winning percentage (.680) in the NCAA, the 7th-most NCAA tournament appearances (27), two Wooden National Player of the Year Award Winners, 11 consensus All-Americans, 6 members of the College Basketball Hall of Fame, and has sent 59 players to the NBA.  Gone are the days of Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson, Malik Sealy, Walter Berry, and Ron Artest.  Now, St. John’s is left scrapping it out with mid-majors, while other big time programs have their eyes on a national title.

Is it the shoes!?

November 24, 2009

Nice kicks for a scrub

It’s amazing that Jared Jeffries still has a Jordan Brand shoe deal.

This time around, Jeffries has his own Home and Away version of the classic Air Jordan V (5). White and black colorways mix with blue ribbon and orange flash to represent the home/away theme that goes along with NBA-regulated uniforms. The Knicks iconic blue/orange colors are added into the mix on the midsole, inner lining, reflective 3m tongue, and stitched #20 at the side heel on both shoes.  More pics after the jump
