Proud of the Jets

January 25, 2010

For a franchise that hasn’t been to a Superbowl in over 40 years, it is not easy to just say “we’ll get ’em next year.”   Yes, nobody expected Gang Green to be in this position, but these opportunities do not come every season (just ask Dan Marino.)

Nonetheless, except for a Superbowl victory, I cannot be happier with the Jets and what they accomplished this season.

Jet Streams: Initial thoughts on Jets-Colts

January 19, 2010

I never would have imagined that my Jets would be in this position — one win away from the Superbowl.  Furthermore, the Islanders are looking like a playoff team, St. John’s is back in the Big East hunt, and the Mets….well, 3 out 4 ain’t bad!

Fresh off an unbelievable win in San Diego, Gang Green will travel to Indianapolis to face Peyton Manning and the Colts.  From 4-6,  and later what was thought to be a devastating loss to the Falcons, the Jets now look to continue to shock the world.

This will be ANOTHER  huge challenge for the NFL’s top ranked defense as Peyton Manning may be the best QB to ever play the game.    He has plenty of weapons — Wayne, Clarke, Garcon — and even Joey Addai could present problems for New York’s D as they did give up 170 yards to Cedric Benson two weeks ago.

I have laid out my 10 thoughts, or keys to the game as the Jets look to continue this dream season for a fan base that continues to walk on air.

Jets hault perfection, defeat unbeaten Colts

December 28, 2009

Thomas Jones and company ran all over the Colts

Boo yah….

The New York Jets put themselves in prime position for a playoff berth with a 29-15 victory over the previously undefeated Colts.  Everything broke the right way for Gang Green in the earlier games, and the Jets did their part to earn the opportunity to play for a wild-card berth next Sunday against the Bengals.  If the Jets win, they’re in….lose, and they can schedule tee times with Eli Manning and the Giants.

The top 10 athletes of the 2000’s….No. 6

December 16, 2009

Every day a star is born

With the decade coming to a close, this quarterback has thrown for over 40,000 yards, over 300 TD’s, and has led his team to 114 wins, not including the playoffs.  Furthermore, he holds the third-highest career passer rating among active quarterbacks, and his 95.1 rating puts him fourth all-time behind only Steve Young, Phillip Rivers, and Tony Romo. The number 6 athlete is immersed in day-to-day disputes over not only being the best QB of this generation, but gets his share of votes for being the best of all time.

The number 6 athlete after the jump!

The good, the bad and the ugly

December 7, 2009

Louis Murphy celebrates after his game-winning touchdown against the Steelers.

The Jets  were able to rest up on Sunday after they beat the Buffalo Bills 19-13 Thursday night in Toronto. They were also able to pick up a couple of much needed victories in week 13. Gang Green is still not in good shape, as they hold a 2-4 division record and five conference losses, so a lot of scenarios will still have to unfold for the Jets to make the playoffs. Nonetheless, some things worked in the Jets favor on Sunday and some did not.

JD’s NFL Week 12 Weekend picks

November 27, 2009

T.O.N.Y is not responsible for your betting blunders...

Another tough weekend ahead—I only like a few games this weekend and just use simple logic– a lot of money was laid down on Thanksgiving, and Vegas, regardless of how they did yesterday compensates for this by toying with the weekend games.  When this happens, always look for trap lines during the weekend as the book looks to rebound from Thursday.  A lot of money was put on Denver as the spread went from -7 to -4.5 at one point, and since Denver won…

**9-8** Overall (Oakland shoulda covered yesterday)

Picks after the jump!
