When asked about the Jets playing five prime-time games in 2010, including the opening Monday night game and on Thanksgiving night, the second year coach didn’t hesitate and said, “I’m not surprised.  People want to see us.”

Damn right Rex….

April 20, 2010

The Jets and free-agent Linebacker Jason Taylor have agreed on a two-year contract per Bob Glauber of Newsday.  The signing is essentially a one-year deal, worth up to $3.75 million, incentives included.  The second year would have to be renegotiated and/or bought out, if that makes any sense.  Read the rest of this entry ?

The Jets and Giants are now on the clock….

April 19, 2010

The NFL Draft has gotten so big that it was moved to primetime this year and will commence for the first time ever on a Thursday.  The 2010 draft class has been pegged as the deepest ever, and both the Jets and Giants enter the free-for-all with areas of need.  The Jets will look to improve their defense, particularly the pass-rushing department as well as secondary depth and the Giants will look to build up the line-backing unit as well as depth for the secondary and offensive line.

I have mapped out the top five players on each team’s radar, as well as three others to look out for.  Nevertheless, predicting who will do what has grown increasingly difficult as there are more trades and maneuvers than ever before.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Two 2nd round draft picks?? PEANUTS!

ESPN is reporting that Brandon Marshall has agreed to a four year, $47.5 million dollar contract with the Miami Dolphins. This will make Marshall the highest paid wide receiver in NFL history.

Are Tannenbaum and Woody dealing with the Devil?

Mike Tannenbaum’s acquisition of Santonio Holmes was just another piece towards bringing a Superbowl to Jets fans.  It began with the hiring of Rex Ryan, and over the last 12 months has included the drafting of Mark Sanchez, trades for Braylon Edwards and Antonio Cromartie, the swapping of LT for TJ and Brodney Poole for Kerry Rhodes, and the soon-to-be signing of Jason Taylor.  Mike Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson are stopping at nothing in ensuring the Jets have one of the elite teams on paper entering the 2010 season.

All these bold moves, however, could come with a hefty price to pay.   Read the rest of this entry ?

The Replacements

...starring Brodney Pool and maybe Tomlinson?

The Jets have come to an agreement with free-agent safety Brodney Pool on a 1-year, 1.3 million dollar deal.

Pool had previously played his entire career with the Cleveland Browns, and although he will be entering his 6th season in the NFL, Brodney is only 25 years old.  Because the Browns did not offer Brodney Pool a tender, Gang Green will not have to send any compensation to Cleveland.  Read the rest of this entry ?
