Too much turkey- Rangers look slow, lose big

November 27, 2009

Not the return to Tampa Coach Tortorella envisioned

The Rangers traveled to the St. Pete Times Forum on Saturday night to play the Tampa Bay Lightning where the Lightning have played exceptionally well this year holding a record of 5-1-4.  If we break this down, this means that when the Lightning play at home, in 90 percent of their games, they have emerged with at least one point.   In order for the Rangers to win tonight it was obvious they needed to  play at an extremely high level for the entire game.

St. John’s storms the Saints in Philly

November 27, 2009

This win is sure to make Mark Jackson proud

St. John’s came into Friday night’s game at 3-0, but many doubted how good the team really was.  Well, they looked pretty good tonight.

The Red Storm outscored the Siena Saints 46-32 in the second half en route to a 77-68 victory at the Palestra.  The Saints led for the majority of the game until a 19-4 run by the Red Storm midway through the second half.  This was a big win for the Johnnies, as Siena is viewed as a Sweet 16 sleeper team and was ranked 27th in the country pre-season by ESPN.

Tavares' put-back gave the Islanders the win

Rookie phenom John Tavares scored his 10th goal of the season on a rebound with 6:12 left in the third to give the Islanders a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.  Josh Bailey and Sean Bergenheim also scored, and Dwayne Roloson was sensational yet again in goal.  Bailey now has four goals in his last five games.

Jets looking to slay two-headed Monster

November 27, 2009

DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart will be tough to contain

The Jets, losers of 6 of their last 7, still have a lot to play for, and no I’m not talking about the playoffs.  With six games remaining, Gang Green may be on life support when it comes to their playoff chances, but they have a rookie QB who has some things to prove.

Mark Sanchez became the first rookie Quarterback to win their first three games.  He was the talk of the town even before that, showing up at all the New York City hot spots, and doing a GQ spread before he ever did anything in the NFL.  Sanchez was anointed the second-coming of Joe Namath before even taking a snap.
