June 2, 2010

I left LBJ out for a reason

Yes ladies and gentleman, in case you were wondering, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Lebron James and Josh Smith will all be available as free agents this next month.

July 1st is a month away and players on that date will be eligible to sign with any team that can afford them. There are two types of free agents that will be courted, unrestricted and restricted. Talk of New York sports will describe what each means in the upcoming weeks so that you are well prepared for water cooler show downs.

For the countdown to free agency, TONY Sports will also cover topics like the NBA salary cap, free agent scouting reports, team salaries and the always confusing sign and trade scenario amongst others.

So stay tuned and tell a friend to tell a friend!

NBA Draft Lottery is a joke

May 19, 2010

Last night the Washington Wizards earned the right to draft John Wall first overall via the Draft Lottery.  The Philadelphia 76’ers were the first runners-up and the lowly New Jersey Nets came in third.  Despite losing 70 games in embarrassing fashion, the Brooklyn-bound franchise can’t even reap the benefits of being the doormat of the NBA last season.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Jedi versus Quentin Richardson at the Garden

April 12, 2010

D Lee takes a free throw while T-Mac and D Wade lurk in the background

Midtown traffic on a Sunday is fucking brutal.  Making it to the Garden to sit courtside one row away from the Heat bench, and irritating Quentin Richardson..PRICELESS.

All in all the Knicks got under the cap for July 1st. Will it be enough to land a marquee player, and get this once respectable franchise out of the mud?

Time will tell and so far no good.

D Leagure for 2 years?? WOW!

Is it me or does KG aka Big Ticket look like a slug when he moves laterally? The Kid looked like an old man on crutches out there trying to guard my new favorite Knick Earl “Boundin” Barron.

St. John’s needs the Knicks

March 31, 2010

The Knicks and St. John's have been in basketball purgatory

St. John’s took the right step with Steve Lavin in the attempt to rise up to respectability again in the Big Apple.  Lavin is a well-known name, with a contagious personality who can recruit his ass off.  Norm Roberts certainly did a great job restoring class to the Red Storm basketball program, but it will be up to Lavin to bring in the big-time players and make St. John’s basketball a national program again.  Read the rest of this entry ?
