The Mets bench is usually solid...this year..not so much

The Mets bench since their 2006 NL championship game appearance has always contributed to winning in Flushing. Whether it was a spectacular defensive play by Endy Chavez or a clutch hit from journeyman Marlon Anderson, the bench always found a way to make it through.

Santana had the worst start of his career Sunday night

The Mets lost two of three to the Phillies over the weekend, after completing the best home-stand in franchise history.  A lot can be overlooked while the team is on cruise-control, and slumps, errors, and questionable decision-making can be swept under the rug as long as the team is winning.  The past two days, however, served as a potential warning sign for the Metropolitans moving forward.  Read the rest of this entry ?

The Mets acquire Gary Matthews Jr.

According to Jon Heyman at Sports Illustrated, the Metropolitans have traded for Angels center fielder Gary Matthews Jr.  Heyman also reports that the halo’s will be paying roughly $21.5 million of the $24 million owed to Matthews over the next two season.
