Back to reality? Thoughts on the Mets-Phillies series

May 3, 2010

Santana had the worst start of his career Sunday night

The Mets lost two of three to the Phillies over the weekend, after completing the best home-stand in franchise history.  A lot can be overlooked while the team is on cruise-control, and slumps, errors, and questionable decision-making can be swept under the rug as long as the team is winning.  The past two days, however, served as a potential warning sign for the Metropolitans moving forward.  Read the rest of this entry ?

The new face of St. John's basketball?

St. John’s fans wanted a new “homerun” coach in a New York minute. Fans also wanted St. John’s to be relevant again.  It looks like the Redmen faithful might get their wish.

Former UCLA coach and  former ESPN analyst Steve Lavin is close to agreeing to become the next coach of the St. John’s Red Storm.  The 45 year-old emerged as the leading candidate after Paul Hewitt would not relocate and it was reported Al Skinner would not alter his assistant coaches.  Read the rest of this entry ?

St. John’s and the coaching carousel

Billy Donovan would be a great fit in Queens

Watching the NCAA Tournament is tough for St. John’s fans, considering plenty of the teams boast talented New York players on their rosters.  While West Virginia was advancing to the Sweet 16 with five starters from the Metro-area, the administration in Queens was starting the hiring process for the next head coach.  Despite being a class-act on every level, Norm Roberts was a swing and miss for the Johnnies, and the next coach must be a home run if the school wants to regain their spot on the national stage.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Norm Roberts should be pondering why he is still employed

St. John’s received a second chance to prove themselves last night, as they were invited to play in the NIT Tournament.  The Red Storm will travel to Memphis for a Wednesday night matchup with the Tigers in the first-round.

The New York Post reported last week that Norm Roberts was out as coach of St. John’s, and ESPN later confirmed the report.  However, Norm still has an office and is expected to coach the Johnnies on Wednesday night.

As Norm and the players resume practice, fans and boosters are left wondering- what are Chris Monasch and the rest of the administration waiting for!? Read the rest of this entry ?

Peter Speaks DA TROOF!

Can't believe it's come to this

I always thought that Knick beat writers (Isola, Berman) were fucking idiots. Berman was Stephon Marbury’s personal writer for the Post and Frank Isola is just a complete idiot. I mean have you seen his picture? Looks like a Jersey Shore reject from the 1980’s, I swear if he put a sweat suit on he’d look like an extra on The Sopranos.

Anywho, Peter Vecsey who I’ve been a long time fan since his days at NBA on NBC always has some insightful shit to say. He’s depiction of the current Knick organization is spot the fuck on. Read for yourselves kiddies.

more after the jump……..

Beltran to miss start of the season

January 14, 2010

As if last year’s disaster wasn’t enough, in 2010 the Mets are hurting before the season even starts.

Carlos Beltran had surgery on his troublesome right knee Wednesday and the All-Star center fielder will probably miss the start of the season. His decision to have the operation also sparked a dispute about whether he had received permission from the team, and perhaps whether the surgery was needed. Read the rest of this entry ?

He may be closer than you think New Yorkers

Not to stir up any controversy, but Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is supposedly terrified that Lebron James will be ditching Cleveland for New York if the Cavs fail to make the finals. A source close to the owner allegedly reported this to New York Post writer Peter Vecsey recently.

The Cavaliers who added Shaquille O’Neal during the offseason are off to a mediocre start at 3-3.
