Manny Pacquiao has signed a contract to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing’s biggest fight on March 13, a source with knowledge of the meeting told ESPN.com on Friday night.

Pacquiao and promotor Bob Arum met for two hours Friday to discuss the proposed deal, according to Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz, who told The Associated Press that “Manny has some additional requirements, requests, which Arum didn’t think was a problem.

Boxing's mega powers will collide!

The proposed super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is getting closer.

Mayweather agreed to terms for the welterweight title bout on Tuesday, multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations told ESPN.com.

The proposed date is March 13, although there is a chance it could move to May 1, sources said. Mayweather, according to a source close to him, is OK with either date.

LAS VEGAS- Formal negotiations for a Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquaio showdown have begun today in Las Vegas. Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy promotions and Bob Arum of Top Rank who represent Floyd and Manny respectively are meeting today at the MGM grand to discuss a match sometime in early 2010.

Yeah I said it…. I used to love the hype Floyd, real talk you were my favorite fighter since Tyson man. The Oscar fight when you wore the Mexican flag colors on your shorts, you brought the chicken out at the conference, that was classic. When you fought against Hatton I was at a bar in Manhattan and everyone was cheering for Ricky. On TV all you can hear were the chants from English supporters and the waving of the Union Jack. I was tight over that, we were in “our” country and America wasnt representing. Then you came out to Bruce fucking Springsteen, lip synching his Born in the USA lyrics before proceeding to whoop his ass.

One for the ages

It was 12 rounds of boxing last night at the MGM Grand, something Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao isn’t familiar with after his previous two fights. The result however was the same, a victory securing the WBO welterweight belt for his seventh title in seven different weight classes. His combination of power and speed was too much for Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto who proved to be one of Pacquiao’s best challenges.

“I didn’t know from where the punches were coming,” a bloody Cotto said after last nights bout.
