The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Robinson Cano has been one of the few bright spots for the Yankees this year

The Yankees have hit their first losing skid of the season, losing four of their last five games, the last being a humiliating loss to the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4.

So with that, I’d like to shed some light on some of the good things I’ve seen over the past 19 games, some of the bad, and definitely, the ugly parts of this 2010 Yankees season. Read the rest of this entry ?

Who will come out on top?

When looking at the AL East, it’s arguable that the best three teams in baseball are in this division. The Yankees, Red Sox and Rays all are stacked with premium offensive players, good pitching and exceptional coaching, which makes this year’s hunt for October that much more interesting.

2010 Fantasy Baseball Top 50

#1-Hanley Ramirez-SS-FLA- What’s not to love about Han-Ram?  Given the shallowness at the shortstop position for the 2010 season and the monstrous numbers he put up in ’09 (.342 BA, 101 R’s, 24 HR’s, 106 RBI’s, 27 SB, .410 OBP), Hanley’s value is “through the roof”.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot, he’s only 26 and it’s very possible he hasn’t even met his potential yet. How scary is that?

Microcosm of the Mets failure

Coming off a season in which the team lost 92 games and had to endure injury after injury, you would think  Omar Minaya and the Mets would do everything they could to ensure “The Amazing’s” would put an elite squad on the field for 2010.  Rewind to the collapses of ’08 and ’07, and it becomes even more vital that the ownership rejuvenate a disgruntled fan base.

Plenty have knocked Omar and the Wilpons over the past few months for their lack of aggressiveness and downright ineptitude, so I won’t put them on full blast anymore. 

Instead, I’d like to take a look at two players who exemplify everything that is wrong with the Mets — Daniel Murphy and Luis Castillo.  Read the rest of this entry ?
