Giants signed Antrel Rolle; Cardinals swooped Rhodes from Jets

The New York football Giants matched the Jets acquisition of Antonio Cromartie with the signing of Antrel Rolle to recapture the football headlines this weekend in New York.  The deal with the former Arizona Cardinal safety was the first step in revamping what was one of the NFL’s worst defenses in 2009.   Read the rest of this entry ?

Same Old Jets? Prove me wrong

January 27, 2010

Can Sanchez change the Jets culture?

It’s all settled in, the pain has subsided and I can now assess the New York Jets with an objective eye. So I’ll prepare myself for a punch in the face from Rex Ryan.

Same Old Jets.

There, I said it. Read the rest of this entry ?

Proud of the Jets

January 25, 2010

For a franchise that hasn’t been to a Superbowl in over 40 years, it is not easy to just say “we’ll get ’em next year.”   Yes, nobody expected Gang Green to be in this position, but these opportunities do not come every season (just ask Dan Marino.)

Nonetheless, except for a Superbowl victory, I cannot be happier with the Jets and what they accomplished this season.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum is rolling sevens

The play was a roll-out to the right, with the Jets down 7-3 and facing 3rd and goal from the Chargers one yard-line.  Rookie Mark Sanchez scrambled, was given time thanks to a great block from fellow rookie Shonn Greene, and the Sanchise threw a bullet to second-year tight end Dustin Keller in the back of the end zone.  Completed pass…touchdown….Jets led 10-7.

Jet Streams: Initial thoughts on Jets-Colts

January 19, 2010

I never would have imagined that my Jets would be in this position — one win away from the Superbowl.  Furthermore, the Islanders are looking like a playoff team, St. John’s is back in the Big East hunt, and the Mets….well, 3 out 4 ain’t bad!

Fresh off an unbelievable win in San Diego, Gang Green will travel to Indianapolis to face Peyton Manning and the Colts.  From 4-6,  and later what was thought to be a devastating loss to the Falcons, the Jets now look to continue to shock the world.

This will be ANOTHER  huge challenge for the NFL’s top ranked defense as Peyton Manning may be the best QB to ever play the game.    He has plenty of weapons — Wayne, Clarke, Garcon — and even Joey Addai could present problems for New York’s D as they did give up 170 yards to Cedric Benson two weeks ago.

I have laid out my 10 thoughts, or keys to the game as the Jets look to continue this dream season for a fan base that continues to walk on air.
