The Jets acquire Antonio Cromartie

March 4, 2010

Mike Tannenbaum has worked his magic yet again.

The New York Jets, according to various sources, traded their 2011 third-round pick to the San Diego Chargers for cornerback Antonio Cromartie late Thursday night.  The pick can become a second rounder based on Cromartie’s playing time and performance with Gang Green.

Did the NFL’s best defense just get better?  Or are we looking at Lito Shepphard 2.0? Read the rest of this entry ?

Jet Streams: Initial thoughts on Jets-Colts

January 19, 2010

I never would have imagined that my Jets would be in this position — one win away from the Superbowl.  Furthermore, the Islanders are looking like a playoff team, St. John’s is back in the Big East hunt, and the Mets….well, 3 out 4 ain’t bad!

Fresh off an unbelievable win in San Diego, Gang Green will travel to Indianapolis to face Peyton Manning and the Colts.  From 4-6,  and later what was thought to be a devastating loss to the Falcons, the Jets now look to continue to shock the world.

This will be ANOTHER  huge challenge for the NFL’s top ranked defense as Peyton Manning may be the best QB to ever play the game.    He has plenty of weapons — Wayne, Clarke, Garcon — and even Joey Addai could present problems for New York’s D as they did give up 170 yards to Cedric Benson two weeks ago.

I have laid out my 10 thoughts, or keys to the game as the Jets look to continue this dream season for a fan base that continues to walk on air.

Oh, Canada! Jets take on Bills in Toronto

December 3, 2009

Terrell vs. Darrelle, part two: Let's gets ready to rumble.

The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills meet in Toronto Thursday night, in a rematch of their meeting on October 18.  The Bills picked off Mark Sanchez five times in a 16-13 overtime road victory. However, the Jets were able to rush for an astonishing 318 yards rushing, and running the football should be the Jets No. 1 priority Thursday.

While the Jets running game was impressive in week 6, the Buffalo Bills once-pathetic offense looked equally impressive Sunday against Miami. After averaging 12.3 points in the previous eight games, the Bills scored 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter en route to a 31-14 win over the Dolphins this past Sunday. The 31 point outburst included a 51-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Terrell Owens.  The Bills will be tested against the NFL’s No. 2 ranked defense.

Jets looking to slay two-headed Monster

November 27, 2009

DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart will be tough to contain

The Jets, losers of 6 of their last 7, still have a lot to play for, and no I’m not talking about the playoffs.  With six games remaining, Gang Green may be on life support when it comes to their playoff chances, but they have a rookie QB who has some things to prove.

Mark Sanchez became the first rookie Quarterback to win their first three games.  He was the talk of the town even before that, showing up at all the New York City hot spots, and doing a GQ spread before he ever did anything in the NFL.  Sanchez was anointed the second-coming of Joe Namath before even taking a snap.

Jets Look to Tame MJD, Jaguars, in Must-Win Game

November 13, 2009

The New York Jets fresh off the bye week face the 4-4 Jaguars at the Meadowlands Sunday.  After starting the season 3-0, the Jets have lost 4 out of their last 5 and find themselves hanging on to slim playoff hopes.   The Jaguars have quietly put together a decent first of the half season despite fairly low expectations heading into this year.  Read the rest of this entry ?
