Are Tannenbaum and Woody dealing with the Devil?

Mike Tannenbaum’s acquisition of Santonio Holmes was just another piece towards bringing a Superbowl to Jets fans.  It began with the hiring of Rex Ryan, and over the last 12 months has included the drafting of Mark Sanchez, trades for Braylon Edwards and Antonio Cromartie, the swapping of LT for TJ and Brodney Poole for Kerry Rhodes, and the soon-to-be signing of Jason Taylor.  Mike Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson are stopping at nothing in ensuring the Jets have one of the elite teams on paper entering the 2010 season.

All these bold moves, however, could come with a hefty price to pay.   Read the rest of this entry ?

The Replacements

...starring Brodney Pool and maybe Tomlinson?

The Jets have come to an agreement with free-agent safety Brodney Pool on a 1-year, 1.3 million dollar deal.

Pool had previously played his entire career with the Cleveland Browns, and although he will be entering his 6th season in the NFL, Brodney is only 25 years old.  Because the Browns did not offer Brodney Pool a tender, Gang Green will not have to send any compensation to Cleveland.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Giants signed Antrel Rolle; Cardinals swooped Rhodes from Jets

The New York football Giants matched the Jets acquisition of Antonio Cromartie with the signing of Antrel Rolle to recapture the football headlines this weekend in New York.  The deal with the former Arizona Cardinal safety was the first step in revamping what was one of the NFL’s worst defenses in 2009.   Read the rest of this entry ?

Jets-Chargers Preview

Kerry Rhodes, Revis and the rest of the Jets look to keep their 'swag' going

Momentum is huge in any sport, and on Sunday both the Jets and Chargers will enter their Divisional Playoff game with plenty.  San Diego has won 11 straight and possesses one of the most lethal offenses in the sport.  Moreover, Gang Green has won 6 of 7, and their top ranked defense has given up just 8.7 ppg in those last 7 games.

Just win baby

TJ and the Jets must win on Sunday to keep playoff dreams alive

The New York Jets have won two in a row, and have seen their playoff chances increase with Pittsburgh’s loss to Cleveland Thursday night.  Nevertheless, Gang Green will have to rely on a backup quarterback this week in Kellen Clemens.  No matter who is behind center, the game plan should not change, and the Jets just need to keep winning one game at a time.

The Jets are currently tied with Miami, and one game back of the Patriots in the AFC East.  Yes, the Dolphins hold the tie-breaker over New York, but their schedule is brutal down the stretch and at least one loss is likely.  New England could be headed for disarray as they have lost two in a row, haven’t won a road-game all season, and now Tom Brady has a finger and rib injury.

Oh, Canada! Jets take on Bills in Toronto

December 3, 2009

Terrell vs. Darrelle, part two: Let's gets ready to rumble.

The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills meet in Toronto Thursday night, in a rematch of their meeting on October 18.  The Bills picked off Mark Sanchez five times in a 16-13 overtime road victory. However, the Jets were able to rush for an astonishing 318 yards rushing, and running the football should be the Jets No. 1 priority Thursday.

While the Jets running game was impressive in week 6, the Buffalo Bills once-pathetic offense looked equally impressive Sunday against Miami. After averaging 12.3 points in the previous eight games, the Bills scored 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter en route to a 31-14 win over the Dolphins this past Sunday. The 31 point outburst included a 51-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Terrell Owens.  The Bills will be tested against the NFL’s No. 2 ranked defense.

The long Rhodes back

November 30, 2009

Kerry Rhodes celebrates with Revis and Eric Smith after catching his second interception against the Panthers.

Head Coach Rex Ryan went from demoting safety Kerry Rhodes, to hugging him after Sunday’s win against the Panthers.

Rhodes, who played in only nickel and dime packages this week after starting since his rookie season (74 consecutive games), responded with two interceptions in the Jets’ 17-6 victory at The Meadowlands.
