Jet Streams: Initial thoughts on Jets-Colts

January 19, 2010

I never would have imagined that my Jets would be in this position — one win away from the Superbowl.  Furthermore, the Islanders are looking like a playoff team, St. John’s is back in the Big East hunt, and the Mets….well, 3 out 4 ain’t bad!

Fresh off an unbelievable win in San Diego, Gang Green will travel to Indianapolis to face Peyton Manning and the Colts.  From 4-6,  and later what was thought to be a devastating loss to the Falcons, the Jets now look to continue to shock the world.

This will be ANOTHER  huge challenge for the NFL’s top ranked defense as Peyton Manning may be the best QB to ever play the game.    He has plenty of weapons — Wayne, Clarke, Garcon — and even Joey Addai could present problems for New York’s D as they did give up 170 yards to Cedric Benson two weeks ago.

I have laid out my 10 thoughts, or keys to the game as the Jets look to continue this dream season for a fan base that continues to walk on air.

We see you Mark Sanchez....

What do the haters and bitter Giant fans have to say now?

All week, Jet fans listened to how their defense was overrated, the Bengals laid down for them last week, and Sanchez would not be able to make plays against the “stifling” Cincinnati defense.

With their rookie quarterback playing mistake-free football, the New York Jets turned their surprising playoff appearance into a long-running production and silenced the doubters.

Mark Sanchez handled single-degree wind chills and the playoff pressure with no problems Saturday, throwing a touchdown pass on a rollout play, and the NFL’s top running game took it from there, setting up a 24-14 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Sanchez went 12 of 15 for 182 yards, becoming the fourth rookie quarterback since 1950 to start and win a playoff game.

Ladies and gentlemen, Mark Sanchez has arrived.

Staying alive- Jets remain in playoff hunt with lopsided win

December 14, 2009

Thomas Jones had two touchdowns on Sunday

Kellen Clemens looked awful throwing the ball, but looked great handing it off as the Jets ran away with a 26-3 victory in Tampa.

Thomas Jones had 99 rushing yards and two touchdowns (his third multi-TD game of the season) to help the Jets to their third straight victory after they dropped their previous 3 games. New York has rushed for 100-plus yards in 10 straight games, its longest streak since doing so in 13 straight games in 1981.
