Doc Halladay to the Phillies? Looks so...

Good evening Met fans.  Today, you wake up without John Lackey on your staff (signing with the Red Sox, pending physical) and now you can say hello to Roy Halladay….as a member of the Phillies.

SI’s Jon Heyman is reporting that a three-way deal between the Phillies, Mariners, and Blue Jays has been agreed upon.  Roy Halladay will go to the Phillies, Cliff Lee to the Mariners and a package of prospects going to the Blue Jays. Halladay is currently in Philadelphia working on a contract extension. More to this story as it breaks….

Why so Serious?

The NL Pennant champs yesterday picked up the 9 million 2010 option on their ace Cliff Lee. Lee who was acquired by the Phillies via a trade with the Cleveland Indians posted a 3.34 ERA in 12 starts.

Speaking of options, the Mets picked up the option on starter Mike Pelfrey. It cost the Mets $500,000 since big Pelf is not eligible for arbitration until the 2011 season.

In other Met news, right fielder Jeff Francoeur underwent successful  ligament surgery on his left thumb Thursday. Francoeur who injured the finger making a diving catch this past August is expected to be ready for the start of spring training. In 6 weeks of play after the injury however, Frenchie still managed to hit .319 with 4 homers and 36 RBI. Also,Carlos Delgado, Brian Schneider, Alex Cora and Ramon Martinez filed for free agency this week. They will be able to sign with any other team starting the 20th of November.
