The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Robinson Cano has been one of the few bright spots for the Yankees this year

The Yankees have hit their first losing skid of the season, losing four of their last five games, the last being a humiliating loss to the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4.

So with that, I’d like to shed some light on some of the good things I’ve seen over the past 19 games, some of the bad, and definitely, the ugly parts of this 2010 Yankees season. Read the rest of this entry ?

David Wright became the youngest Mets player to record his 1,000 career hit

The Mets ascended into first place after sweeping a double-header from the Dodgers on Tuesday.  What a difference 10 days make as the Amazing’s were left for dead after a 4-8 start.  Now, the Metropolitans will attempt to complete a 9-1 homestand Wednesday afternoon before a trip to Philadelphia against the struggling Phil’s.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Gang Green is expected to cut Alan Faneca

Multiple sources are reporting that the New York Jets will release nine-time Pro Bowl Guard Alan Faneca, with an official team announcement coming Monday.  The 33 year-old Faneca was apparently on the trading block for weeks, but the Jets couldn’t find any takers. He was scheduled to make $7.5 million this season, of which $5.25 million is guaranteed. Read the rest of this entry ?

Corner Blitz!

Another weapon for the NFL's best defense

With the 29th overall pick, the New York Jets selected Boise State corner Kyle Wilson.  The Piscataway native is pegged as an aggressive cornerback with superior ball skills and was rated a top 15 player on most draft boards.  As Rex Ryan’s former boss Ozzie Newsome put it, “Rex can never have enough corners.”

Gunnas! Big Pelf and Reyes lead Mets to W

Reyes swiped a base and went 4-5

When you combine 19 scoreless innings of stellar pitching with a fiery shortstop beginning to warm up, you can almost guarantee a win. Mike Pelfrey who last pitched for  a save during the 20 inning marathon in St. Louis last Saturday, shut out the Cubs in seven innings of work.

The Jets selected for five prime-time games

When asked about the Jets playing five prime-time games in 2010, including the opening Monday night game and on Thanksgiving night, the second year coach didn’t hesitate and said, “I’m not surprised.  People want to see us.” 

Damn right Rex….
