“New York is where I was wanted, where I’m supposed to be.”

The Face of Change

My title for this article is verbatim from the Knicks starting point guard Toney Douglas, who said that after he was reminded that Jrue Holiday, the Sixers starting rookie point guard was picked ahead of him in last years draft. The Knicks have won a surprising two games in a row on the road after the former Seminole was promoted to the starting point guard position.

The highly touted defender out of Florida State has a knack for the defensive end, and he proved his worth last night after he picked Willie Greens pocket en route to a 21 point and 8 assist effort in Philadelphia.  12 of his points came in the fourth quarter.

Whether Douglas will be the starting point guard next season is up for debate, but after Mike D’antoni praised the rookie for being a impact player on the floor without doing much scoring in the first half, he may have a significant load to carry next year.

“He hit the big 3 in the corner [to stretch the lead to five], was making plays [seven assists on top of 20 points],” said Mike D’Antoni. “And when he came out of the game defensively I thought we really dropped off. Even when he wasn’t making [first-half] shots, when he was on the floor we were a lot better.
