"With the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL draft...."

The number three athlete began the decade as an obscure backup, but closes it as the most accomplished player in the nation’s most popular sport.  This quarterback is a three-time champion whose persona has transcended football.   In addition, despite appearing in just four Pro-Bowls and winning “only” one MVP, this athlete has been the epitome of clutch in the big spot, leading his team to some of the most memorable victories of the 2000’s.  Some players have passed him in terms of individual accolades and honors, but nobody can match his accomplishments when championships are on the line.

Ohhh the pain!!!

How much more can Jet fans take?  I mean, honestly….how many other ways are there to lose an NFL game?

The Jets, winners of three straight, dropped a heartbreaking game to the Atlanta Falcons, after their top ranked defense couldn’t stop the Dirty Birds on 4th and goal from the Jets 6 yard line.  Gang Green did a great job containing Matt Ryan, Roddy White, and in particular Tony Gonzalez the entire game, but failed to execute once again in the games waning minutes. 

As a life-long Jets fan, can it get any worse?

Redemption: St. John’s rallies to beat Hofstra

Finally!!!

For some odd reason, the Red Storm has struggled with the Hofstra Pride in recent years, losing four straight after defeating Hofstra 19 times in a row.  On Sunday, the Johnnies got a little revenge, outscoring the Pride 18-1 in the final 6 minutes en route to a 72-60 victory in the semi-finals of the Holiday Festival.  St. John’s will face a good Cornell team in the Championship game tonight at Madison Square Garden.  The Big Red survived a scare from Davidson and held on in overtime in their semi-final game.

NEW YORK — Their best shooter fails to close it out from the foul line, then preserves the victory with a blocked shot. Whatever it takes to win, and right now the New York Knicks keep finding ways to do it.
