New York Islanders (13-15-7, 33 pts)

Montreal Canadiens (15-18-3, 33 pts)

Game time:  7 pm

News and Notes:  Montreal followed four one-goal losses with a season high-tying fifth straight defeat Thursday, 3-1 to Minnesota. The Canadiens haven’t dropped six in a row since Feb. 6-17, 2007.  The Islanders have alternated wins and losses over the last four games, falling 5-2 to the New York Rangers on Thursday to settle for a split in a home-and home series. They took the first matchup 2-1 at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.  Martin Biron will get the start in net tonight for the Isles, his first since the December 8 game in Philly that resulted in a 6-2 loss.  Also, with regards to the weather, it is up to the league and the Islanders to call the game if the weather becomes a dangerous issue. If the blizzard forces a state of emergency and the league/organization feels fans are in harm’s way, then the game will be called.  Only two games at Nassau Coliseum have been canceled because of snow: February 7, 1978 against Minnesota and March 13, 1993 against Pittsburgh.
