Mason will make Red Storm lethal

Red Storm redshirt senior Anthony Mason Jr.’s highly-anticipated return to the court for the 2009-10 season will be slightly delayed even further, as head coach Norm Roberts announced on Wednesday that the swingman will miss the next three weeks while continuing to recover from a hamstring injury.

Mason Jr. was examined on Monday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. An ultrasound scan revealed that the hamstring, which was injured in September and then re-aggravated on Oct. 16, is not yet fully healed.

With the decade coming to a close, this quarterback has thrown for over 40,000 yards, over 300 TD’s, and has led his team to 114 wins, not including the playoffs.  Furthermore, he holds the third-highest career passer rating among active quarterbacks, and his 95.1 rating puts him fourth all-time behind only Steve Young, Phillip Rivers, and Tony Romo. The number 6 athlete is immersed in day-to-day disputes over not only being the best QB of this generation, but gets his share of votes for being the best of all time.

Rangers host Islanders

Henrik Lundqvist has been dissapointing so far this season

The New York Islanders‘ season may have hit a low point in their most recent contest, a blowout loss at home that was their fourth defeat in five games.

They won’t have to travel far to find another struggling club, as the New York Rangers carry a four-game losing streak into Wednesday’s opener of a home-and-home set between the local rivals.

Although they’re on pace to surpass the NHL-worst 61 points they earned last season, the Islanders (12-14-7) have still looked like a rebuilding team lately, losing three times by at least four goals during a 1-4-0 stretch.

Making his first public appearance since right hamstring tendon surgery in mid-October, Mets’ All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes walked without a limp and expressed total confidence he will be 100 percent by the start of spring training.
