Frans Nielsen beat Tim Thomas for the game winner in overtime

 

The Islanders snapped a three-game losing streak with Frans Nielsen’s breakaway backhander 24 seconds into overtime. Dwayne Roloson was great once again in goal and held the Islanders in the game despite being outshot 17-3 by the Bruins in the third period.Matt Moulson had a goal and an assist for the Islanders (12-13-7), Rob Schremp scored his first NHL goal, and Kyle Okposo had two assists.

“That one was from juniors,” Schremp joked. “That was fun. I was excited. It was just nice to see the goal get past the line.”

Rangers fall once again

NEW YORK — Tough guy Patrick Kaleta scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal in the second period, and the Buffalo Sabres shook off an uncharacteristic rough beginning by Ryan Miller in a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

Kaleta, known more for his fists than offensive touch, scored from in-close in the first and then converted a short-handed breakaway in the second to give the Sabres a 3-2 lead. He entered with 10 goals in 124 NHL games, but pushed his season total to a career-best five with his first two-goal game.

Magic says King will change Courts

Magic Johnson was asked where he expects LeBron James to wind up next summer.

“I think he’s going to go to New York,” said Johnson.

“They’re in the lead, they just have to make it [attractive] for him,” Johnson said. “LeBron will come to New York if he knows they’re gonna win …. So, if they sign a free agent first, that would probably seal the deal, I believe. They should have somebody else on their radar to make him want to come.”

Bug Spray, Knicks Zap Hornets

Duhon and Gallo

New Orleans- Ladies and gentleman, the Knicks are streaking.  New York held New Orleans to 96 points and scored the final 18 points of the fourth quarter to beat the Hornets 113-96 down in the big easy. It is their fifth win in six games and their fourth straight, a feat they have not done since January of 2006.
