Update– New info including Kerry Rhodes news after the jump
Rich Cimini of the Daily News stated that this was a precautionary move by the Jets. Rex and the Jets’ brass feel Mark could play, but do not want to risk further injury.
“Mark is our quarterback, he’s our future. Can he play? Probably…but it’s not worth the risk. We feel Kellen can get the job done, and we need him to,” said Rex.
There was other breaking news, as Rex awarded Kerry Rhodes the starting safety position opposite Jim Leonhard. Rhodes was demoted in favor or Eric Smith two weeks ago and had two interceptions against the Panthers. Ryan said that Kerry did “everything I wanted him to do” to earn back his starting job.
