News and Notes:  The Red Storm is 31-21 all-time against Temple in a series that began with a 27-20 St. John’s win on Feb. 28, 1931. The last time the squads met was on March 16, 1990, an 81-65 St. John’s win at the Omni in Atlanta in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.  The last time St. John’s opened a season 5-0 was during its NIT Championship campaign of 2002-03 (though the wins and the championship were vacated by the NCAA).  Temple is coming off a 61-50 victory over Virginia Tech Friday night.  They are led by Ryan Brooks (14.0 ppg) and Lavoy Allen (12.6 ppg, 11.0 rpg).  The Owls only loss of the season was a one point defeat at Georgetown.  They were picked 5th pre-season by the coaches in the Atlantic-10 Conference.
