Official Excuses from The Garden

November 20, 2009

I was forwarded an e-mail from a MSG staff member friend (who shall remain anonymous). He and other staff recieved this e-mail with the following statements (said to be from Donnie Walsh). This is apparently their “official position” regarding Allen Iverson, and what the staff is supposed to tell any concerned parties:

–          We have decided not to make any additions to the team at this time, this has nothing to do with Allen Iverson personally, just that at this stage it’s not right for the team

–          We are always looking to improve the team, but he and Coach D’Antoni both feel that an addition could hurt the development of the Knicks current players by taking away their minutes

–          He has always admired Iverson – he is a great player that could help a team, and at first he thought Iverson was not a fit, but then started thinking it could be intriguing, but was clear with the media that he was undecided about signing Iverson, and left the door open

So, if you’re looking for an official explanation, that’s what the Garden has to offer at this time.
