Islanders vs. Wild

Mark Streit leads Power Play unit ranked 13th in the NHL

@ Xcel Energy Center: St. Paul, Minnesota

Islanders (8-7-6)

Wild (7-12-2)

Game Time: 8 pm

News and Notes: Jeff Tambellini is expected to remain a healthy scratch for tonight’s game.  “It’s no so much what he’s got to do,” coach Scott Gordon said. “It’s when he gets back in there making sure he doesn’t give me the option to take him out. He got a little off his game. That’s not to say he can’t get it back. When you don’t score you have to do all the little things and I just found that he got away from that.”  Defenseman Brendan Witt is expected back after a personal leave. Recent call-up Andrew MacDonald is out of the picture but will remain with the team;  it is undecided if he will play.   It will be a home-coming for Kyle Okposo, who expects close to 60 friends and family members.

Update on captain Doug Weight, who has an upper body injury. “He’s kind of out of sight right now,” Gordon said. “He’s probably got at least three more weeks. At least.”

Minnesota is notoriously tough at home, but this season sports a modest 5-3 record at the Xcel Center.  Much better than their 2-9-2 record on the road, nonetheless.
